The F-word
Finishing what you start
You can just do things. Make a movie, get a third degree, learn a new language, write this blogpost. None of that freewill would matter, though, if you’re unable to finish what you start.
Sometimes, I wonder if it’s a discipline thing or an interest issue: to be flooded with ideas and dreams but never quite see them through. Is there some satisfaction to be gotten from simply being able to conjure thoughts? Regardless of a tangible result? Perhaps.
I’m greatly inspired by the people who dream dreams and then jump into execution mode, and as the first month of the new year comes to an end, I am reminded again of my resolution to do more and, most importantly, embody the F-word: finishing.
You know another F-word I always take seriously? Food. With that, I thought I'd share a recipe for something I’ve enjoyed creating and finishing several times over the past few weeks.

Prep time: 15m
Total cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4 servings
Ingredients
For the meatballs
Mince chicken
1 small white onion, finely-chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely-chopped
1 small chilli (optional lol)
1 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp white pepper
1 1/2 tsp jerk powder
1 1/2 tsp pimento powder
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
For the sauce
1 white onion, finely-chopped
3 cloves of garlic, finely-chopped
400 ml tomato puree
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbs fresh thyme
1 tsp white pepper
Salt and chicken bouillon to taste
Cooking process
For the meatballs
Add all the meatball ingredients to a bowl and mix well
Scoop and roll out about 12-14 meatballs
Bake at 180 °C for 20 minutes
For the sauce
Sauté onions, garlic, and chilli until fragrant
Add the tomato puree, seasonings, salt, and bouillon, and allow to simmer on low heat for 5 minutes, stirring often so it doesn’t burn
Add the meatballs to the sauce and cook for about 10 minutes, and you’re all done!
Enjoy! Or not!
